Design and Engineering are pivotal to modern society and it's evolution. Since the beginning of time, humans and their predecessors have used and nurtured their knowledge in the vast fields of design and engineering, thus allowing for the development initially of handmade tools, then simple machinery and shelter and now, in the 21st century, almost everything we use and do is in some way or form connected to design and engineering. Whether it is the engineering behind an Iphone X, or the aesthetic design of a house, we are literally encompassed by these two fundamental principles.

These sort of materialistic ideas of design and engineering may leave you feeling that in fact, it was humans that created and developed the art of design and the practice of engineering. But you couldn't be further from the truth: As you will soon discover ( If you didn't already know!), the golden ratio (derived from design within nature) has become pivotal in design and dates centuries back to when human knowledge of design was still in its infancy.

The Fibonacci number has also been observed in nature:The Fibonacci numbers are Nature's numbering system. They appear everywhere in Nature, from the leaf arrangement in plants, to the pattern of the florets of a flower, the bracts of a pinecone, or the scales of a pineapple.

So in many ways, humans have worked harmoniously with nature, adopting and developing existing design and engineering. In this blog, I aim to inform the reader on the ever increasing complexities, innovations and ideas within the field of design and engineering. I have targeted posts at people like me, who genuinely share a strong interest and passion in engineering and its immense importance in society.
A bit about me:
For a while now I've had a deep fascination with how man has manipulated and adopted natures ideas, for example:
from design of birds, humans initially formed the idea of ornithopters(an aircraft that flies by flapping its wings) and then we made planes. Similar to this, many ideas and key principles in design have been developed from their humble beginnings and it fills me with excitement, being able to examine not only how some of these engineering masterpieces have evolved so far, but also how new advances in technology means that we are taking existing ideas to new, undiscovered levels.
Whilst I am a student, I have formed an extensive knowledge on any subjects which I will be writing about. I aim to make this blog easily understandable to other students, similar to me, who wish to pursue a degree and hopefully a career in design or engineering.
Finally, I aim to post on here at least once a week but more if my schedule allows- as I have mentioned, I am a student and exams and school work may get in the way but I will try my best :). Please contact me via my email If you have any questions regarding design and engineering; however technical, I will endeavour to provide you with an answer. Also, If you have requests for a post, feel free to get in touch.
I hope you enjoy my posts :)
